Life after the "Honeymoon"

So Matt and I are officially settling in to our home in Lubbock. We were blessed with a wonderful 11 day honeymoon in California. I am going to post some notes along with a few pictures of what we did each day on our first adventure as husband and wife.

I went back through and read old post from planning the wedding, funny how things just work out! Our day went off without a hitch, it really was the PERFECT day!

Feel free to check out our photographer's blog @ lschilbergphotography.blogspot.com she has posted a few pictures from our big day!

Without further ado.... our honeymoon...

One month

Holy guacamole today marks one day until THE day!! I cannot believe how fast these last 6 months have flown by,and I cannot wait for the next 31 days to fly by!

I kept thinking that this whole planning a wedding thing was SUPER easy, like anyone is crazy to be stressed, broke or an emotional wreck. Well.... I am all 3 of those things now, I am pretty sure that there is not a day that goes by that I dont want to throw up, cry or just be alone in a closet. Not to say I dont want a marriage to Matt, I really really really do. I just dont care about a wedding, and I also am in need of a magic moving fairy who will move all of my things into Matt's without disrupting either of our lives... hahahah doubt that will happen. ANYWHO... I am working on calming down and I do know that eventually all of this will seem funny and I will be pleased with how things actually happen, so, hurry up June 11th I am very ready to meet you!

I am also wrapping up my first semester at Willow Bend and am very pleased with how things have turned out. The big guy upstairs really does have a wonderful plan that we can't always see, and for that I am thankful.

Adios amigos...

May is here, 41 days until the big day

So May is officially here, and it is 47 degrees in Lubbock. Not quite what I expected when I got up for church!

Yesterday I had my bridal portraits with our wonderful photographer, Linda Schilberg, she did such a great job of helping me capture this time and all of the emotions I have. It is such a surreal feeling to be in my dress and for people (strangers) to congratulate me.

We met this week with the Pastor who will marry us and it just affirmed to me that I have found my "person." I am so very blessed to have found the person that God created just for me, Matt complements me and is going to be a great spiritual leader for our family! We hope that when people leave our ceremony they understand how important we are to each other and how important Christ is to both of us and how we would be nothing without him.

We are nearing the end of our engagement time, and I am actually beginning to be thankful for the time we had to be engaged and prepare for our marriage. I have tried very hard to not think about preparing for a wedding but a marriage instead. I want a wonderful and strong marriage, the wedding day is important but forever means so much more to me.

April here we are

So again, I have let a whole month go by without updating!! Life is flying by and we are so blessed.

We went to Big Bend with Matt's mom and dad, and his Uncle Charlie and cousin Gatlin and McKeever. We had a lot of time and I really enjoyed the quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of life.

We had our first wedding shower, my bridal shower, in San Antonio on March 19th. It was so wonderful. I was overwhelmed by people's generosity and love for Matt and I. We received 8 of our place settings of china, coffeemaker, can opener, EVERYTHING for our bathroom and sooooo much more. We are blessed beyond measure and are very thankful to everyone who came!

We are 69 days away from the "big day," some days I am so ready to be married to Matt and some days it freaks me out. I know he is my person but forever is a long time :)

I was given a contract with Frenship for next year, so that is a huge answered prayer, I am so excited to be back with my 2nd grade team again next year. I will be giving my 2 weeks notice at Gardski's this week.

Matt has been given some reassurance that he will have a position with Tech in the fall so we are really looking forward to that blessing. It has been heavy on both of our hearts that he would be able to finish school, as well as help us out financially!!

Prayers for Matt as he works hard on his proposal for his dissertation and continues to work hard on that. I am also needing prayers in my personal walk with Christ, I am working on dying to myself and working to further the Kingdom.

Engagement Pictures

Less than 4 Months!

AHHHH we are less than 4 months away from the wedding, and half way through our engagement!

We have our first wedding shower Saturday March 19th in San Antonio, it will be a womens only shower hosted by my mom, sister and 3 of my bridesmaids.

We have a couples shower in Midland scheduled for May 14th. This shower is going to be hosted by 2 of Matt's aunts, sister and 2 former teachers/family friends from Kermit. I am excited to have a shower where Matt will be involved!

I had my first dress fitting today, I ordered my dress a size small and it already zips! HOORAY! They are taking 5 inches off and will be saving the extra material so that I can use it for a christening gown or bonnet in the future :)

We did decide to book The Cakery as our baker for both mine and Matt's cakes. His groom's CAKES are going to rock! I am going to keep them a secret, ask him for more info, just know they are 100% his taste!
My cake is going to be round, 3 tier with butter cream frosting and red roses, we will be using a monogrammed W as our cake topper.

We made our registry at Target last weekend and had so much fun picking out new things for our future home!

I also went ahead and ordered our original invitation selection from an online company. We decided that we would use the gift certificate we won for invitations to the rehearsal dinner. I cant wait to actually have our invitations, it seems to make it so much more official.

We found a Lifehouse (bible study) for us with other married couples and we really enjoyed it. We have our last pre-marital counseling session this Tuesday, I feel like we have definitely learned some valuable information that will help us once we are married.

I am feeling much more encouraged today about waiting for the wedding, some days I am just ready to drag Matt down to the courthouse and make it official! I know that June 11th is going to be amazing and I know that I have dreamed about this FOREVER, and it will be worth it.

School is going better, still hard but I am getting the hang of it! Hopefully next year will be even easier!

February begins and 4 months to go!

So I cannot believe that January has completely gone by! It has been a crazy and hectic few weeks for Matt and I, that is for sure!

We start our pre-marital counseling next Tuesday with Tim Beal the associate Pastor at our church, who will be marrying us. We had been attending a married and engaged bible study with our good friends Kyle and Alysha but that bible study was cancelled this last week so we are in the process of finding a day and time that works for us, we really enjoyed getting to know and spend time with people in the same life stage as us!

On to more EXCITING wedding stuff:
We went to the Lubbock Bridal Expo on January 16th and feel like we have found the cake people we want to do our cake, we have a meeting with them on Tuesday at 4:30 so hopefully that will work out! (They have the BEST prices in town, HOORAY)

We also won $50 off of invitations at a local place so we are hoping to go check them out this week and see what their prices/inventory compare to the original invitations we had picked online.

We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond 2 weekends ago and are SUPER excited with our selections, we are still planning on registering at Target in addition to this registry to give more options and get EVERYTHING we need for our new home together!

Lake Tahoe is going to be our Honeymoon spot! We have a wonderful week and half long vacation planned that includes a trip to Yosemite national park, a week in Tahoe and then a day or two in San Francisco so Matt can check out the Golden Gate Bridge and we can check out where the Giants play. (Would it be Matt's perfect honeymoon without baseball?)

I am SUPER pumped about my bridesmaids dresses, they are a classic look that I think everyone will enjoy wearing the day of the wedding! (Lets be for real NO one ever shortens it and wears it again :) )You can check them out at Bridesmaid Dresses
They will be in black and the girls will be carrying red flowers!!

Matt still has not decided on his tuxedos but I am not too concerned about that!

On a more personal note for Matt and I, here is what is going down in our lives BESIDES the wedding.
I started a teaching job at semester in Frenship ISD and I feel SOOOOO blessed to have this job but am finding it to be incredibly stressful to start at semester! I am blessed with wonderful kids who want to learn so I count myself lucky there!

Matt found out recently that his graduation has been postponed until Decemeber 2011. At first we were both disheartened but have really begun to see the positive in this change of plans! We will for sure be in Lubbock the first 6 months we are married and that is a HUGE answered prayer, we had both been very worried about Matt graduating, marriage and a big move all so close to each other so this will give us some time to get used to being married :)

I would very much appreciate prayers to continue to have a level head with the planning of the wedding, especially as we are getting closer to the big day and preparing for my move in to Matt's and the end of the school year in May!
